Most of often we were flown to and from firebases on Hueys. I loved flying in choppers. On a couple of occasions the pilots auto-rotated*, either because they thought we would enjoy it or because they thought they would get a good laugh at our fear. Since I had always been a fan of wild and potentially deadly county fair rides, I asked them to do it again.
*auto-rotate - go up pretty high and cut off the engine. As the chopper drops out from under you and begins hurtling toward earth, the air rushing up through the blades makes them spin (sort of like blowing on a pinwheel). The landing is rather abrupt.
